At least I got a cute picture!

For most of the fall season I figured we would just coast through Halloween without costumes and candies. We are still in the phase where Tate doesn't really understand what it is and how it usually works, so he doesn't know what he is missing. I would actually rather just hang out at home and make "Pumpkin Day" special with pumpkin carving, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cookies and squash soup.

Then on Monday, Tate informed me he would like to dress up on Friday with this friends. He, of course, wanted to be Thomas, but we talked about it and decided to pick a costume Mommy could make. So we hit the thrift stores and second hand shops in Evergreen and Conifer and finally decided Tate would be a cowboy. I am not even sure he totally understands what a cowboy is! But the idea was a good one because on our trip to Santa Fe, my Mom bought him a horse on a stick for Christmas. So I decided I would give him the horse early and replace my Mom's gift (sorry Mom, hope you don't mind!) with a book. Overall, Tate wasn't thrilled, but at least the idea of dressing up with his friends would be exciting - so I thought.

The big day arrived (being this morning) and I put his outfit on without too much fuss. Tate has never liked wearing anything on his head, even as a baby he would yank off hats. So, of course, that was the first thing to go. Then the boots came flying off (not really flying, he takes his shoes off nicely, but it just sounded funnier) as soon as we walked into his classroom at school and he put on his tennis shoes (which we brought just in case they went running around outside since the boots are a touch big). His horse was nicely placed next to his backpack and then, without even looking back, he started playing trains with his friends. Oy vey! That was a lot work for nothin! :)

So, at least I took a few cute pictures of him dressed up this morning before we left because, if I know Tate, he will come home looking nothing like a cowboy.

He looks like Woody from Toy Story!
