A friend called yesterday wanting to unload 9 chickens they had raised as baby chics. I quickly said YES! We are down to 5 chickens ourselves and I wanted to get more, but was dreading the chic process. As I was dragging my feet, I was casually looking for an opportunity to pop up where I could get older girls right from the start. Not only do I have the sole responsibility for baby chic care, but the feather dust in the house is terrible! So my friend and her family had done all the hard work, yet, from what I hear, they enjoyed every minute. I understand they were cuddled frequently and carried around in shirt pockets.
So in addition to our Roadhouse Reds and Barred Rocks, we now have 4 new Barred Rock, those are the black and white speckled, 3 Light Brahmas, which have feathers on their feet (and have been appropriately named Fuzzy Feet) and the 2 beautiful Speckled Sussex, which are black and brown with a hit of white. YEAHH!! More eggs to nourish the Allbritton clan! THANKS Bentons!
