Here is the run down of our roller coaster to Chase

On Jordan's way back from visiting Gary, the birth father (who lives in CO Springs), she went into labor - this was Sunday Jan 20th 2008. When she arrived at the hospital she was already 9 cm dilated. YIKES! Delivery was fast and the baby was born at 6:45 PM. Although the baby was technically 3 weeks early, developmentally he was full term at 5 pounds 10 ounces and 17 inches long.

We waited the 24 hours requested by Jordan before coming to visit. So on Monday evening, Tyler and Jen drove up to Greely to visit Jordan, her Mom Konda, Dad Jim and Chase for the very first time. It was love at first sight and everyone was very excited about the adoption going forward.

The docs wanted to keep Chase for 48 hours of observation and then Jordan and he would be discharged. Meaning, we could bring Chase home. However, plans don't always work out the way we think they are going to. Britt (Jordan's social worker) called while we were on our way up to Greely to bring Chase home and informed us that Gary had changed his mind and wanted to parent. We very reluctantly turned around and came home. Therefore, Chase was placed in cradle care (an intermediate family) while decisions were being finalized.

The following day (Wed), Britt visited Gary to have a chat about the situation. To our surprise, Gary decided to sign the relinquishment papers. We were ESTASTIC! While we wanted to go pick Chase immediately, Eve (our social worker) strongly suggested we wait another 24 hours to make doubly sure of all decisions. So now, we will pick Chase up Friday Jan 25th and bring our little guy home. We can't wait!!!

Here are some pictures. First is of Jordan holding Chase with her Mom and Dad and us. The others are pictures of Tyler and Jen holding Chase for the very first time - sweet moment.
