Today we had the pleasure of hanging out with Jordan, Chase's birthmom, and Jordan's parents Konda and Jim. It was SOOO much fun! Chase's nap worked perfectly for their arrival. He was awake, alert and hungry! About an hour later he gave us his little "I'm getting tired" fuss and we put him down to revive himself. We ordered some pizza, had a nice lunch and then Chase was awake again for another round of cuddles and a feeding.
Tate hammed it up with everyone reading to him and playing with all the great goodies they brought. Jordan and family gave Tate a Thomas the Tank Engine view master with 3 different discs to enjoy again and again. He hasn't put it down yet! Konda's sisters picked up some sports stuff for Tate - a football, tossing ball and little basketball with a hoop. They brought Chase Jordan's favorite picture book Are You My Mother? Konda used to read it to Jordan over and over when she was a little girl. We will continue the tradition with Chase! Konda also made some beautiful Easter baskets for both of the boys with real grass and eggs with some money inside.
We learned some neat stories about the family's experience with Chase. Jordan calls Chase a "miracle" baby...which of course we already knew! But Chase was a miracle for a number of other reasons we didn't know about! First off, the doctors told Jordan early on in her pregnancy that she would most likely miscarry because of a shortened cervix. Every time she went in for an appointment they were surprised that the baby was still in her belly. Then the doctors began preparing Jordan to deliver a preemie that would need to be in the ICU for an extended period of time. THENNNN Chase and Jordan were unscathed by a 6 car pile up they were involved in when she was 7 months pregnant, which totaled her car.
Our miracle!
