Character Curriculum

We have officially started our character lessons for Tate. Up until now, we have been reading different books that describe Godly character traits or have a fun story that demonstrates them in a fun way. But this week we started a more detailed lesson plan. I like to type things out and have it all visible, so here it is taped up on our cabinet.

Here is our plan:

1. Work on the same character trait for 2 weeks.

2. Talk about the definition of the trait (e.g. Self control is doing something even when when you don't feel like it) and talk about what that might mean during the day (e.g. if mommy asks you to wash your hands and you don't want, what would it look like if you used self control?)

3. Go over one or two of the Bible verses that go with that trait (e.g. Do everything without complaining or arguing. Phil 2:14)

4. Listen to a few songs that have the trait as its theme, such as Temper Tantrum Tilly by Patch the Pirate.

5. Read through a few devotionals that relate to our trait. Do an activity with the devotion if it applies.

6. Pray for God to help us live out this trait (and others) throughout the day .

7. Find times during the day that Tate demonstrates that trait and reward it with a sticker, a new book or something fun.
