Chase is getting the hang of this whole gumming food thing. He eats about half of his meals in the highchair now so that he can gum some food in between swigs of formula. At first I was mashing up everything and mixing it with formula to make it all smooth (you remember the pictures of the food all over his little face), then one day Tate and I were sharing a banana and I remember reading this article about feeding babies soft pieces of food instead of mashing everything up, thus making it a little easier to just work into big-person food. I thought, maybe less will come out too. So I gave it a try and he loved it! He just gummed and gummed that piece of banana. He especially likes it cold because I think it feels good on his gums. So Chase is now eating small bites of cold banana and cold avocado with a little salt and he still likes his egg yolk with a touch of salt and yesterday's portion had a touch of liver...yummmy!!! All those good fat-soluble nutrients for his little growing body and cholesterol for his brain!!
Chase loves to lounge in the highchair while he eats.
The egg yolk mess-factor is down a bit too! If I make the consistency just perfect most of the food on the little spoon actually ends up in his tummy!
